Manchester City Sign Allan Elias for £34.2m

Manchester City have moved quickly to fill the Savio-shaped hole in their attack, sealing the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan Elias in a deal worth up to £34.2m.

The 22-year-old Brazilian joins on a five-year contract after City agreed an initial £32m fee, with a further £2.2m in potential add-ons. He arrives as a like-for-like replacement on the right flank for compatriot Savio, who completed a £75m switch to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Allan comes in as one of the brightest products of Palmeiras’ academy, having risen through the youth ranks to become a regular in the first team. He scored nine goals and laid on 12 assists in 96 appearances for the Brazilian giants in all competitions, earning his move to Europe’s elite.

For the player, the step up to City is as emotional as it is ambitious.

"This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players," Allan said.

"To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

"I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions."

Maresca’s City keep spending – and reshaping

Allan’s arrival continues a relentless summer of business under Enzo Maresca. City have already pushed their spending beyond £230m in this window alone.

The headline deal remains Elliot Anderson’s £116m move from Nottingham Forest, a statement signing in midfield. Ayyoub Bouaddi has also come through the door, the highly rated youngster joining from Lille for £85.6m.

The recruitment drive is not over. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and are also keen on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, as Maresca looks to remodel the squad in his own image and refresh a side that has dominated for more than a decade.

Yet this is not a simple story of unchecked spending. The champions have been just as aggressive in trimming and trading.

City have already generated more than £286m in player sales. The most eye-catching departure is 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri, who has joined Barcelona in a £65m deal that signals the end of an era at the heart of City’s midfield. Tijani Reijnders has also moved on, leaving for Al-Qadsiah in a £52m transfer.

So City rebuild and retool at pace. Allan arrives with the weight of expectation, a right-sided winger stepping into a squad in transition, a club still chasing perfection after years of success. The question now is simple: how quickly can Maresca’s new-look City turn this expensive overhaul into another winning machine?
