Liverpool Eyes €50m PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye Amid Bradley Barcola Negotiation Delays

Liverpool Pursues PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Liverpool has shown interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who is eager for more consistent first-team opportunities. At 18 years old, Mbaye wants to move away from Paris this summer in search of regular playing time and appears open to a transfer to Anfield.

PSG values Mbaye at around €50 million, although the fee might rise given current market inflation. While Liverpool has not yet submitted an official bid, Mbaye is reportedly interested in joining the Premier League club. However, competition is intense, with German side Bayer Leverkusen already engaging in direct talks with PSG for the player's transfer.

Bayer Leverkusen Leads the Race

Bayer Leverkusen has made notable progress in their pursuit, thanks partly to strong relations between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leverkusen's Fernando Carro. Despite this, Mbaye faces stiff competition for minutes at PSG, where his position is crowded by players like Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola.

Last season, the young winger featured in 24 Ligue 1 matches, scoring three goals. Yet, with PSG seeking additional wide attackers—including Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche for around €50 million—and missing out on Real Madrid-bound Yan Diomande, Mbaye’s chances for game time look even slimmer.

Bradley Barcola Talks Stalled Over Price

Bradley Barcola remains another PSG winger on Liverpool’s radar. The French international has attracted Liverpool’s attention with preliminary discussions underway. The Reds are prepared to offer about €100 million, with Barcola keen to make the switch to Merseyside.

Despite personal terms not being a problem, negotiations hit a snag due to PSG's hefty €170 million asking price. PSG justifies the valuation by highlighting Barcola's impressive World Cup run, where he scored three goals and assisted one, as well as his status as a two-time Champions League winner.

Price Adjustments May Change Dynamics

PSG insists any sale of Barcola must surpass recent Premier League record transfers such as Elliot Anderson's £116 million and Morgan Rogers' £117 million moves. This stance holds even though Barcola has only two years remaining on his contract and has declined a renewal.

There is speculation that PSG's valuation might soften later in August once their recruitment of new wingers is complete. Liverpool could either submit a formal offer for Mbaye now or hold off, hoping PSG lowers their demands for Barcola as the transfer deadline nears.
