Liverpool Faces Transfer Hurdle as PSG Sets £145m Price for Barcola, Eyes Bournemouth's Rayan as Backup
Liverpool's Pursuit of Barcola Hits a Wall
Liverpool continue talks with Paris Saint-Germain over winger Bradley Barcola, but PSG’s steep asking price has pushed the Reds to consider alternatives. The French club reportedly values Barcola between £140 million and £145 million, a figure that has complicated the transfer process.
Despite Liverpool’s readiness to invest about €100 million in the 23-year-old, known for his speed and ability to play on both wings, PSG’s premium demand forces the club to look elsewhere.
Barcola Remains Liverpool's Primary Target
Barcola is seen as the natural successor to Mohamed Salah at Anfield. His direct style and pace fit head coach Andoni Iraola’s tactical vision well. Negotiations remain ongoing, but the valuation gap has led Liverpool to prepare backup plans.
Rayan Emerges as Plan B
Bournemouth’s 20-year-old Brazilian winger Rayan has become Liverpool’s main alternative if Barcola doesn’t join. Personal terms are reportedly agreed in principle. Rayan impressed during his half-season in the Premier League, tallying seven goal contributions in 15 matches since his move to Bournemouth earlier this year.
He offers speed, physicality, and room to grow, already familiar with Iraola’s demanding style, making him a viable option on the right flank.
Additional Options Remain Open
While new signings Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have arrived, neither fills the creative void left by Salah. Liverpool still needs a high-level attacking player to strengthen their title ambitions.
If deals for Barcola or Rayan falter, other targets include Yankuba Minteh and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who offers frontline versatility. The club continues to monitor the market carefully.
- Barcola's Valuation: £140m–£145m
- Liverpool's Offer: Around €100m
- Rayan's Premier League Stats: 7 goal contributions in 15 games
- New Signings: Jeremy Jacquet (defender), Victor Munoz (winger)
