Lamine Yamal Embraces Barcelona’s Drive for Champions League Glory

Teenage star Lamine Yamal has expressed support for Barcelona's intense focus on winning the Champions League, calling it a positive mindset for the club. He said doubting their ambitions would be "cowardly," especially with coach Hansi Flick at the helm.

Though Barcelona last won the Champions League in 2015, they've come close recently, reaching the semi-finals and quarter-finals under Flick's guidance. The European tournament remains a top target this season.

Confidence and Realism Combined

Yamal told Movistar, "I like that people come to the dressing room and believe we can win the Champions League. The problem would be if someone said we're going to win it no matter what, because you never know. But being obsessed with winning it, I think that's good in the end."

He reminded everyone of Barcelona's rich history, saying, "We are Barça, and Barça have had moments as the best team in history and have won the Champions League. We have the team to do it, and it would be a bit cowardly not to think this year is for the Champions League instead of just the League."

La Liga Title Still on the Radar

Even with the European dream alive, Yamal hasn’t lost sight of domestic success. He’s aiming for a third consecutive trophy under Flick.

"We’re going for the League too," he said. "We can win both the League and the Champions League. We have to be a team that stays united during those tough 20 minutes in matches," highlighting how key moments can shape the season’s outcome.
