Juan Bezerra Leaves Zamalek for Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai

Juan Alvina Bezerra’s time at Zamalek is over almost as quickly as it began. One season, one league title, and now one final agreement: the Brazilian is heading to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai in the UAE.

Zamalek’s board, led by Hussein Labib, announced on Saturday that all terms had been settled with the Emirati club, bringing an abrupt end to a stint that promised plenty and delivered flashes of real quality before it fractured.

“The board of Zamalek, chaired by Hussein Labib, announces that an agreement has been reached regarding the transfer of Brazilian Juan Bezerra to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai of the UAE, after the requirements set by Zamalek at the start of the negotiations in the summer transfer window this year were met,” the club said in an official statement.

From key creator to absent forward

On the pitch, Bezerra had done his part. Across all competitions last season, he featured in 44 matches, scoring 8 goals and supplying 12 assists. His numbers were not empty statistics; his contributions dragged Zamalek through tight fixtures and deep into multiple competitions. By the end of his first campaign, he was an Egyptian Premier League champion and a central figure in the White shirt.

Then the summer window opened, and the mood changed.

Bezerra made it clear he wanted out. He skipped Zamalek’s pre-season preparations and stayed away from early matches as the new campaign began, a stance that immediately complicated his position inside the “White Castle.” The club moved on with its plans; the Brazilian moved away from training.

Cairo eventually saw him return last Saturday, ending his spell of absence. But he did not come back to settle in. He came back to leave. The message from his camp remained the same: he wanted a new challenge, and he wanted it now.

Dubai calling

Talks with Shabab Al-Ahli accelerated over the past few days. Zamalek gave him the green light to travel to the UAE for his medical, a clear sign that the deal was close. Once he boarded that plane, the end felt inevitable.

Today, it became official.

Shabab Al-Ahli’s media team added a touch of theatre to the announcement, posting: “They searched for the date of the announcement.. Dubai is the destination”.

For Zamalek, the deal closes the book on a player who lit up their attack for a season, then chose to walk away at the height of his influence. For Bezerra, it opens a new chapter in Dubai, carrying the weight of 8 goals, 12 assists, and a league title into a league that will expect him to deliver all over again.
