Inter Sells Matteo Motta and Eyes Luca Reggiani from Dortmund

Inter have moved on one of their own and set sights firmly on another club’s prized prospect.

The Nerazzurri have officially sold academy full-back Matteo Motta to Pescara, securing a 50 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal with the Serie C side. Motta, 21, came through Inter’s youth ranks and spent last season on loan at Lumezzane, but never made a competitive appearance for the senior team.

It’s a clean break on the pitch, not quite on the balance sheet. If Pescara cash in down the line, half of that future fee will flow back to San Siro.

While one youngster leaves, another remains very much on Inter’s radar.

In Germany, Bild report that Inter have again asked Borussia Dortmund about the availability of 18-year-old defender Luca Reggiani, one of the most intriguing Italian talents abroad. A central defender by trade, Reggiani came through the Sassuolo youth system before making the jump to Dortmund in February 2024.

The move transformed his trajectory. In the Bundesliga he kicked on quickly enough to earn a senior Italy cap at just 18, making his debut in June 2026 and underlining his status as a long-term prospect for both club and country.

That rise is exactly why prising him away looks so complicated.

According to the report, Dortmund have little intention of opening the door. They have only recently extended Reggiani’s contract and see him as a key piece of their future, making any Inter approach a tough sell.

Inter, then, have banked on Motta and protected their upside – but when it comes to Reggiani, they are staring at a wall that may not come down any time soon.
