Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, India secured the gold medal in men's cricket at the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou. The team entered the competition directly at the quarterfinal stage and displayed strong performances throughout the knockout rounds.

Road to the Gold

In the quarterfinals, India defeated Nepal comfortably by 23 runs, advancing confidently to the semifinals where they dismantled Bangladesh with ease. The final against Afghanistan, however, was disrupted by persistent rain. After Afghanistan reached 112 for 5 in 18.2 overs, the match was called off without a result.

Due to the weather interruption, the tournament's seeding rule was applied, awarding the gold medal to India as the higher-ranked team entering the final. Afghanistan settled for silver, marking their third consecutive Asian Games final appearance, while Bangladesh took home the bronze.
