Endrick Likely to Join Aston Villa on Loan to Rebuild His Career

Endrick, the young Brazilian forward, looks poised to leave Real Madrid on loan once again this season, with Aston Villa leading the race to sign him. The 20-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing time since joining Madrid in summer 2024 amid high expectations as a South American prospect.

He found limited opportunities under managers Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso, which led to a loan spell at Lyon during the latter half of the 2025–26 season. In France, Endrick impressed by scoring eight goals and providing eight assists across 21 appearances.

His performances earned him a call-up to Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. Returning early for preseason with Real Madrid, he aimed to impress new coach José Mourinho. Yet, the club appears ready to send him away again as competition increases with the arrivals of striker Carlos Espí and winger Yan Diomande.

Mourinho hinted at a trimmed squad, stating he wanted around 20 players plus injured ones, signaling that players like Endrick may depart before the transfer window closes on September 1.

To facilitate a loan deal, Los Blancos are reportedly willing to share part of Endrick's salary, which exceeds €5 million (approximately $5.75 million) annually. SPORT names Aston Villa as the "most probable" destination. Meanwhile, Spanish clubs Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis have also expressed interest in taking him on loan. Petit described him as "a wild horse with lots of energy," who sometimes plays selfishly but possesses immense talent.
