Djed Spence Set for Inter Debut After International Break

Djed Spence has yet to kick a ball for Inter, but his wait looks almost over.

The English right-back, signed from Tottenham in a €35m permanent deal in the summer, is expected to be available when Serie A returns in October, according to Gazzetta. Inter plan to have him ready for their first game after the international break, at home to Parma on October 10 at San Siro.

It has been a curious start to life in Milan for the 26-year-old. Unveiled as a major investment and a long-term piece for the Nerazzurri, he has so far been kept on the fringes, working away from the main group to rebuild his condition.

The reason sits thousands of miles away from Milan. Spence comes off a draining World Cup run with England, a campaign that pushed him physically and forced Inter’s staff to manage his workload carefully. Since his arrival, he has trained separately, following a tailored programme to restore full match fitness rather than being rushed into action.

This week will follow the same pattern. As reported by Gazzetta, Spence will continue to work on his own schedule for a few more days, sharpening his fitness and rhythm.

The timing suits him. Coach Cristian Chivu has handed his squad a full week off, with group sessions for players not on international duty only resuming next Monday. When those players report back to Appiano Gentile, Spence is expected to step in alongside them and finally integrate into full training.

If everything goes to plan, the right-back will be in contention for that Parma clash. No more separate drills. No more waiting. Just the first real chance to show why Inter were willing to spend big to bring him from London to San Siro.
