Daisuke Yokota Nears Rangers Move

Rangers appear close to finalizing the signing of Hannover forward Daisuke Yokota. The Scottish Premiership club opened their 2026-27 season with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Dundee United, failing to impress under manager Derek McInnes.

This summer, Rangers have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in notable players including a South African international who recently represented Bafana Bafana at the World Cup. Their main challenge this season is to close the gap on archrivals Celtic, who secured last season's Premiership title, while also holding off strong competition from Hearts, who came close to winning their first league crown.

German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg reports that Rangers have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Yokota. The 26-year-old impressed in Bundesliga 2 last season, contributing nine goals and assists across 30 matches. The deal reportedly includes an initial fee of £3 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Yokota is expected to travel to Scotland on August 4 for a medical and to sign a long-term contract with the Glasgow club.

Freddie Potts Exits West Ham for Club Brugge

West Ham United are facing a new season in the Championship after finishing 18th in the Premier League last campaign, ending a 15-year stay in the top flight. The club has confirmed that midfielder Freddie Potts has departed, moving to Belgian champions Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee.

Potts, 22, joins a side preparing for European competition following their 2025-26 Belgian Pro League triumph, which secured them a place in the Champions League League Phase, guaranteeing at least eight matches at Europe's highest level.

At London Stadium, West Ham continue to see several players leave, with Potts following the high-profile sales of Matheus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville to Tottenham Hotspur and Al-Hilal respectively. Despite the outgoings, the club managed to keep captain Jarrod Bowen, who has committed to stay through their Championship campaign.

Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor Remains off the Market

Amid West Ham's efforts to bolster their squad, they showed interest in Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor, who had a standout summer, including three World Cup appearances for Haiti and a memorable long-range goal against Morocco on June 24.

Despite rumors about his availability, Sky Sports News reports that Sunderland do not plan to sell Isidor before the Premier League season starts. Manager Regis Le Bris values the 26-year-old as a key player, especially with Sunderland aiming to compete both domestically and in Europe.
