Costantino Favasuli Joins Napoli on Loan
Costantino Favasuli has taken the first concrete step toward becoming a Napoli player, arriving this morning at Rome’s Villa Stuart clinic to undergo his medical with the club.
The 22-year-old full-back is set to join from Serie B side Catanzaro on an initial one-season loan. Napoli will pay €1 million for the temporary deal, which includes an obligation to buy for around €6 million.
A small group of Napoli supporters greeted Favasuli outside the medical centre, a sign of the curiosity and expectation surrounding a defender widely regarded as one of the brightest young full-backs in Italy.
Last Season Performance
Last season, Favasuli played a key role in Catanzaro’s push to the Serie B play-off final. He scored two goals and delivered seven assists in 36 appearances, numbers that underline his attacking instincts from deep.
Versatility
Although naturally a full-back, he offers valuable versatility. Used predominantly on the right side, he is also comfortable operating on the left, giving Napoli an extra option on both flanks.
National Team Recognition
His rise has not gone unnoticed at national-team level either. In June, Favasuli made his senior Italy debut under caretaker coach Silvio Baldini, featuring in both friendlies against Greece and Luxembourg.
If the medical goes as expected, Napoli will be tying down a young, modern full-back with Serie B end-product and a first taste of Azzurri football already on his CV.
