England Under-21 international Alleyne has officially linked up with Nicky Hayen’s squad ahead of the new Championship campaign, and the defender’s enthusiasm spilled out as he spoke after his first day at the club.

That excitement is backed up by hard numbers. Alleyne arrives on the back of a quietly impressive spell in the Championship with Watford, where his underlying metrics marked him out as one of the more active defenders in the division.

During that stint, he made the second-most tackles (20) of any defender at the club, won the third-most duels (72), and produced the fourth-most clearances (76). Those figures hint at a centre-back who doesn’t shy away from contact, reads danger early, and stays involved across the 90 minutes.

For Burnley, still carrying the scars of relegation but determined to respond, that profile matters. Hayen inherits a squad that knows how to dominate the Championship – and now adds a defender who blends top-level schooling at City with the bruising reality of second-tier football.
