Brighton Player Ratings vs Arsenal: Morgan Rogers Shines Early

Morgan Rogers (6.7) The calendar said Sunday, not a bank holiday, but Brighton’s own “JP Morgan” might as well have put the shutters down.

Rogers walked into the Emirates and stunned Arsenal with an opener after just 71 seconds, a crisp finish that briefly promised a very different afternoon. Then the lights dimmed. His influence faded, the early spark turning into a flicker as Brighton struggled to play through the chaos around him.

It didn’t help that Ezri Konsa and referee Chris Kavanagh loomed large as the day’s chief “bank robbers,” disrupting any sense of rhythm or control Brighton tried to build. The game grew scrappy, the decisions grating, and Rogers never quite rediscovered that first-minute edge.

Still, that early goal showed exactly what he can offer. Brighton will hope next weekend he keeps the doors open a little longer.

Estevão (6.5, sub)

Thrown on to chase the game, Estevão stepped into the “bank” late on and almost cashed in spectacularly.

Cutting in and shaping for the far corner, he bent a shot that had the away end holding its breath, only for it to curl back into saveable territory instead of flying into the top corner. One clean strike, and we’re talking about a stunning equalizer at Arsenal.

The cameo was lively, purposeful, and hinted at a player who deserves more minutes. His CV is on the manager’s desk now. It shouldn’t gather dust.

Pedro Neto (6.4)

Pedro Neto used to be part of the attacking “banking” operation. Now he’s in the right wing-back trade, and that new job is starting to look like a solid fit.

He worked hard up and down the flank, offering width and an outlet under pressure, even if the final product didn’t always land. Arsenal’s press and Brighton’s own inconsistency limited his impact, but he stuck to the task and showed there’s real potential in this new role.

Not spectacular, not disastrous. Just a growing sense that this positional switch might pay off with a bit more stability around him.
