Barcelona Signs Karim Adeyemi on Long-Term Contract

Karim Adeyemi has officially joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund, committing to a five-year contract at Camp Nou. Although the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, sources like ESPN report an initial payment of €22 million (£18.8m) with potential add-ons reaching €7 million (£6m). Dortmund is also set to receive a share of any profit if Barcelona sells Adeyemi in the future.

Adeyemi's early football years saw him with Bayern Munich’s youth setup before he made his professional breakthrough in 2018 at Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

"Throughout his career, he has shown his ability to play on either wing as well as through the middle as a centre-forward, combining blistering pace with a powerful left foot," stated an official Barcelona release. "These traits provide valuable options for Hansi Flick, who is familiar with Adeyemi from his time handing him his senior debut for Germany."

Player Stats and Career Highlights

During his stint at Salzburg, Adeyemi scored 33 goals and assisted 24 times across 94 appearances before moving to Dortmund in 2022. At BVB, he featured in 146 games, netting 36 goals and providing 25 assists. The German international has also played 48 Champions League matches, scoring 16 goals with seven assists, showing his capability on big stages.

This summer, Barcelona has strengthened its attack by bringing in Adeyemi alongside Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

Potential Debut and Upcoming Matches

Adeyemi was not part of Germany’s squad at the 2026 World Cup but arrives fit and ready for action. He might skip the upcoming pre-season friendly against CE Europa but is expected to join Barcelona’s tour in England next week. Fans may see his first appearance in the friendly against Birmingham City on July 31.

His official competitive debut for Barcelona could come in the La Liga opener against Elche on August 23, marking a fresh chapter in his career under coach Hansi Flick.
