Arteta Sends Clear Signal to Barcelona Over Julián Álvarez Transfer
Julián Álvarez's Future Remains Uncertain Amid Transfer Interest
The fate of Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, aged 26, is still unclear. The Argentine wants to leave, and several clubs are interested in signing him this summer.
Barcelona's Pursuit Faces Resistance
Barcelona are keen on adding the Argentine striker to their squad, hoping to strengthen their attack. Yet, Atlético Madrid opposes a move to the Catalan club and would prefer he transfers abroad instead.
Arsenal Steps Back After Arteta's Comments
Arsenal was among the teams looking to acquire Álvarez. Rumors suggested that the Gunners planned to include Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres as part of the deal, possibly to lower Álvarez's transfer fee.
When asked about the interest in Álvarez, manager Mikel Arteta said: "I won't talk about a player who is not from our team. I'm very happy with the team I have. Obviously, we want to improve it, and the club is working on that."
He also confirmed that Gyökeres would stay at Arsenal, leading Mundo Deportivo to suggest that Arsenal has stepped back from competing for Álvarez.
Álvarez Waits While Barcelona Considers Options
Currently on holiday, Álvarez awaits news about his next move. Although Barcelona still view him as a priority, they are content with their current forwards — including Anthony Gordon, Adeyemi, and Bisseck — and are in no rush to complete a transfer.
