Howe has since departed, with Matthias Jaissle now in charge, but Hall’s frustrations are said to persist. United know he wants the move. Newcastle know they cannot afford another big-name exit. Something has to give.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future adds another twist. After Bruno Guimaraes’s switch to Arsenal, the versatile defender has been offered to both Chelsea and United, throwing his long-term role into serious doubt.

Chelsea land Chavarria and eye City interest

Chelsea, relentless in this window, have confirmed Pep Chavarria as their ninth summer signing. The Spaniard arrives talking like a player determined to grab his shot.

Spence wants guarantees over his playing time. Roberto De Zerbi cannot promise him the minutes he craves and has made it clear he will not block the 26-year-old from leaving if the right offer arrives. The result is a cut-price opportunity for Inter and a reshaped right side for Spurs.

Tottenham have also learned of Barcelona’s interest in Porro, another key piece of De Zerbi’s system. With Porro locked into a deal until 2031, Spurs hold the cards, but the situation could shift quickly if Kounde’s future at Barcelona changes.
