Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan
Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship club fresh firepower on the left flank.
The 25-year-old arrives from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish side agreeing to cover a proportion of his wages. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers simply did not stack up for a permanent commitment.
This is a targeted move, not a luxury one. Norwich went back into the market after fellow left winger Ali Ahmed suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna, an issue that has ruled him out for the long term and ripped a hole in Clement’s plans.
Musaba landed in England on Monday night, completed his medical and finalised personal terms before the deal was announced. He will wear the number 49 shirt.
Reunion with Clement
For Musaba, this is not a step into the unknown. It is a return to a coach he trusts.
“I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move,” he told the club’s official channels.
“I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.
“I remember him (Philippe Clement) from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him. He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player.”
That familiarity matters. Clement demands intensity and directness from his wide players, and Musaba fits that template: a right-footer operating off the left, quick and aggressive with and without the ball.
Ready-made Championship know-how
Norwich are not taking a gamble on a player learning the league on the fly. Musaba has already done the hard yards in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday, where he produced 23 goal contributions across 80 appearances for the Owls.
“I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then,” he said. “There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going.”
That blend of experience and growth is exactly what Norwich believe can tilt tight games in their favour over a long campaign.
Knapper’s blueprint
City sporting director Ben Knapper made no attempt to hide his enthusiasm at landing a player he feels is tailor-made for Clement’s approach.
“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City,” Knapper said. “We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.
“He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically. We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets.”
Musaba becomes Norwich’s fifth senior signing of the summer, joining Andre Brooks – the £8m arrival earmarked for the opposite flank – in a rebuilt wide unit designed to stretch and hurt opponents.
The framework is clear: pace on both wings, a coach who knows exactly what he wants from his attackers, and a club betting that this reunion can drive a serious push up the table.
