2026 World Cup Round of 16 Overview

The 2026 FIFA World Cup began with 48 teams. After a thrilling Round of 32 packed with penalty shootouts, late goals, and unexpected eliminations, only 16 teams remain competing for the title.

Hosts Canada, Mexico, and the United States have all exited. The quarterfinals now feature traditional football powerhouses such as Argentina, Belgium, England, France, and Spain. Two Round of 16 games on Tuesday will finalize the last quarterfinal spots.
