Tournament Format and Key Details

The Champions League continues with the league phase format introduced last season, involving 36 clubs. Each team plays eight matches — four at home and four away — against opponents drawn from four seeding pots.

At the end of this stage, the top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16. Clubs finishing between 9th and 24th enter a playoff round to fight for a spot in the same knockout phase.

Last season, reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain claimed their first-ever title with an emphatic 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final, marking the largest winning margin in a European Cup final to date.
