Tottenham Signs £75m Sávio as De Zerbi's Rebuild Accelerates

Tottenham have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, with the 22-year-old opting to be registered as Sávio at his new club in north London.

Spurs have committed £75m up front for the wide forward, with the agreement containing a further £10m in potential add-ons. It is a statement outlay on a player the club believe can become a cornerstone of Roberto De Zerbi’s attack.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after the deal was announced. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”

De Zerbi was equally clear about what he expects from his new signing. “Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the head coach said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

The move continues a bold summer of investment from Spurs’ hierarchy. Sávio joins a recruitment drive that has already delivered Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke in deals worth more than £50m each, reshaping the spine and the flair of De Zerbi’s squad in a single window.

Experience has arrived too. Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have both joined on free transfers, adding proven defensive nous around the big-money recruits and giving De Zerbi depth in key areas.

And the spending is not finished. Another Manchester City forward, Omar Marmoush, is expected to follow Sávio through the door. If that deal is completed, he will become Tottenham’s fifth signing of £50m or more this summer, underlining just how aggressively the club are backing their manager.

A new winger with licence to thrill, a coach who demands front-foot football, and a board signing off heavyweight fees: Tottenham are clearly betting big that this is the season their ambition finally turns into silverware.
