Mikey Moore Set for Loan Move to Köln as Spurs Reshape Attack

Mikey Moore’s next step looks set to run through the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, 1. FC Köln are close to securing the 19-year-old Tottenham Hotspur winger on loan, with a basic agreement with the player in place for some time. The final push came when Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi finally signed off on the deal.

That green light had been missing until this week. De Zerbi had been counting on the teenager in the early weeks of the season, throwing him straight into the starting XI for Tottenham’s Premier League opener – a bruising 3-0 home defeat to Brentford. Moore’s inclusion underlined how stretched the north London club’s squad had become.

Now the picture at Spurs is changing fast. English outlets report that Tottenham have struck a deal with Manchester City for Savinho and Omar Marmoush, a double move said to total around €185 million in transfer fees. Under Pep Guardiola’s successor Enzo Maresca, neither player has been more than a fringe figure for the champions. Their arrival would ease the attacking burden and clear the way for Moore to leave on loan.

De Zerbi has not hidden his frustration with his current options. Behind the scenes, the Italian pushed hard for reinforcements and made his point again after the Brentford loss, when he namechecked Moore while dissecting Tottenham’s chaotic pressing game.

“We were not ready to win the duels. We made a lot of mistakes in the pressing with Mikey Moore,” he said, a blunt assessment of a teenager asked to carry a heavy tactical load on opening day.

Köln, though, see opportunity where Spurs see growing pains.

On the Rhine, Moore is expected to step straight into the vacancy left by Jakub Kaminski, who has joined Benfica. The plan: install the Spurs loanee on the right flank as a direct replacement, balancing the attack opposite Said El Mala. The highly rated El Mala recently surprised many by extending his contract with the Billy Goats, giving Köln a young, dynamic wing pairing to build around.

Köln had been searching for that profile for weeks and had failed to find common ground with other clubs, including Borussia Dortmund. Moore’s availability changes the equation.

The England youth international arrives with solid senior experience already on his CV. Last season he spent the campaign on loan at Rangers, making 47 appearances in all competitions. He scored seven goals and added four assists in Glasgow, numbers that hint at end product but also at a player still sharpening his edge in the final third.

For Tottenham, the move would offer Moore regular top-flight minutes in a demanding environment. For Köln, it could be the key piece that restores balance to an attack rebuilt on the fly.

If the paperwork goes through as expected, the 19-year-old will swap north London for the RheinEnergieStadion – and trade De Zerbi’s pressing drills for the task of replacing Kaminski in front of one of Germany’s most restless, expectant crowds.
