Liverpool Squad Trimmed: Morrison Joins Sheffield Wednesday on Loan
Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool clear-out is gathering pace, with young winger Kieran Morrison the latest to head out on loan and defender Calvin Ramsay set to follow.
Morrison has completed a season-long move to Sheffield Wednesday, joining the League One side for the entire 2026-27 campaign.
The 19-year-old caught the eye on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA, but with competition fierce at Anfield, he has opted to drop into the third tier in search of regular senior minutes at Hillsborough. He rejected interest from clubs on the continent to make the switch, convinced that consistent first-team football in England will accelerate his development.
Liverpool moved earlier in the summer to secure his long-term future, tying him down to a new contract running until 2030. Now comes the test: turning promise into end product in a demanding league.
Ramsay, meanwhile, is close to finalising a loan move to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. The 23-year-old right-back, whose Liverpool deal expires next summer, is looking for a platform to relaunch his career and stake a claim ahead of a decisive year for his future.
