Liverpool Intensifies Chase for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool’s chase for Bradley Barcola is very much alive – and gathering pace.

The Paris Saint-Germain winger has emerged as the headline target in a frantic late-window reshaping of Liverpool’s attack, with senior figures at Anfield pushing hard to land him in the coming days.

Barcola talks intensify

Fabrizio Romano has moved to cool talk of an eye-watering €170m fee, but confirmed that negotiations between Liverpool and PSG are active and serious.

“On Bradley Barcola… it is not going to be €170m,” he said on his YouTube channel, stressing that people inside the industry have never believed such a figure was realistic. It will still require “a big amount of money”, but nowhere near that level.

What makes this deal different is the way it is being handled. There is no drip-feed of formal bids and rejections. Instead, Romano describes “a direct exchange day by day” between the clubs, with conversations driven by directors and owners rather than a public auction.

The message from his side is clear: the deal is “alive”, Liverpool are “going very strong for Barcola”, and they want it wrapped up “in the next few days” if possible. Only an agreement with PSG stands between them and the now-customary “Here We Go”.

Liverpool’s wide rebuild

Liverpool’s urgency is easy to understand. Mohamed Salah has gone, his move to Trabzonspor confirmed at the end of last season, and the club want two wingers in before the deadline.

One piece is already in place: Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna. Another slipped away, with Liverpool walking away from a move for Yan Diomande once it became clear the winger preferred a different destination.

Barcola is now the standout option for the left flank. On the opposite side, Liverpool have already lodged two bids for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as they search for a right-sided threat to help fill the Salah void.

There is also a knock-on effect to consider. Romano notes that Liverpool plan to add “one more” wide player if Cody Gakpo leaves, with Tottenham and Manchester City circling. If Gakpo is prised away, the recruitment drive on the wings will only intensify.

PSG braced for Barcola exit

Inside PSG, the mood points in one direction. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, club insiders are already bracing themselves for Barcola’s departure before the window closes, with Liverpool in ongoing talks to secure his signature.

Jacobs reported that PSG staff “expect” Barcola to leave before the deadline as discussions with Liverpool continue. On the other side of the equation, he also underlined the growing interest in Gakpo: Tottenham are “still pushing” for the Dutchman, while Manchester City are keen but, as of Monday night, had yet to make a direct approach to Liverpool.

So Liverpool find themselves at the heart of a late-summer chain reaction: Barcola likely leaving Paris, Gakpo wanted in London and Manchester, Minteh pursued on the south coast. Deals that could reshape their forward line for years are being thrashed out in private rooms, call by call.

The question now is simple: can Liverpool land Barcola in time to anchor the next era of their attack?
