Liverpool Closing in on Bradley Barcola Transfer from PSG

Liverpool are edging towards one of the most eye-catching deals of the summer, with Bradley Barcola now moving closer to a Premier League switch from PSG, according to reports in France.

Loïc Tanzi of L’Equipe claims the France international is “expected to become the biggest transfer of a Ligue 1 player to a foreign club”, a line that underlines just how heavy this move would land on the European market.

Liverpool, under Andoni Iraola, are understood to be hunting at least two attacking signings and are open to adding a third. Barcola, at 23 and already a full international, sits right at the heart of that plan.

PSG stand firm – but the gap is shrinking

The saga has dragged on, but the numbers are finally starting to move into the same postcode.

PSG are still holding their line at €140m (£119.7m), a figure Tanzi says the club maintained in the last few hours. It’s a hard stance, but it’s also a climbdown from the earlier asking price of around €170m (£145.3m) when talks first intensified.

That drop matters. PSG’s revised valuation now nudges closer to the benchmark fees that reshaped the market this summer, with Manchester City paying £116m for Elliot Anderson and Chelsea laying out £117m for Morgan Rogers. Barcola is being measured against those deals, and Liverpool know it.

Even so, Paris are in no mood to offer discounts. The French champions believe they still hold a premium asset and are prepared to squeeze every last euro out of the window.

Barcola camp confident as Liverpool push on

While the clubs haggle, the mood around the player is shifting.

Barcola and his entourage are thought to be increasingly confident that an agreement will be struck with Liverpool. The winger, who operates primarily from the left, is seen as a key piece in Iraola’s rebuild and a player capable of reshaping the Reds’ attacking profile for years to come.

It has taken time. A lot of it. But the sense now is of a deal moving from hopeful to probable.

Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by Richard Hughes, are not just juggling one major deal either. Recent reporting suggests the club are closing in on Yankuba Minteh after a third bid, which could soon see another young forward added to Iraola’s options.

Two forwards in. And still, the Reds may not be done.

Race against the clock at Anfield

Liverpool want three attacking signings in this window. Seven days to close Barcola, wrap up Minteh and land a centre-forward feels like a sprint that leaves no room for a stumble.

The logic is clear: if Iraola is to impose his aggressive, front-foot style on the Premier League, he needs a stacked forward line. Depth, variety, and speed. Barcola ticks one box, Minteh another, and a central striker would complete the set.

But the focus on attack exposes what Liverpool already know: the squad still looks light in central midfield and at right-back.

Iraola is said to be convinced he can patch up the midfield with what he has, trusting structure and coaching to close the gaps that recruitment hasn’t. It’s a bold stance in a league that punishes any soft centre.

Right-back is even more precarious. Jeremie Frimpong stands as the only senior option in that role, a thin layer of cover for a position that often absorbs the tactical strain of a modern system.

Liverpool are gambling that they can live with those shortcomings, at least until the winter window.

If Barcola walks through the doors at Anfield as the most expensive export in Ligue 1 history, the statement will be loud. The question is just as sharp: will a blockbuster frontline be enough to carry a squad that already looks stretched for the first half of 2026/27?
