Julian Alvarez Faces Atletico Madrid's Hostility Amid Transfer Speculation

Julian Alvarez felt the full force of Atletico Madrid’s anger on Sunday – and the noise around his future is only getting louder.

"No, I’m not in a position to give advice to the fans. I think I need to focus on my work, which is to give my best on the sporting side for the good of Atletico de Madrid.

"The only thing I know is that if Atletico de Madrid wants to win a title, we have to be united. We need forwards, and we need important forwards. For that, of course, we all have to work in that direction to give the team what it needs."

Unity, though, feels a long way off where Alvarez is concerned.

The 24-year-old has made no secret of his wish to join Barcelona this summer, pushing hard for a move that has not materialised. LaLiga’s reigning champions are now understood to be looking at other options, a shift that has opened the door for Arsenal to re-enter the picture.
