Curtis Jones Joins Inter Milan for $40 Million

Inter Milan have struck a deal worth $40 million to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, bringing an end to the academy product’s long spell at Anfield.

Multiple outlets, including The Athletic, ESPN and Sky Sports, reported on Thursday that an agreement is in place for the 25-year-old, who had just one year left on his Liverpool contract. The move hands Inter another technically gifted option in midfield and closes the chapter on Jones’ senior career with the Reds, which began in 2019.

Jones’ numbers tell the story of a player who grew into a regular presence. Across the 2025-26 campaign, he produced three goals and three assists in 49 appearances. Across all competitions for Liverpool, he leaves with 22 goals and 22 assists from 228 games.

His absence from Liverpool’s last two friendlies now looks less like rotation and more like preparation for the exit door. Jones did not feature in either of the past two Sundays, against Como and Monaco, as talks advanced in the background.

Liverpool now move into their Premier League opener against Newcastle on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. EDT in Newcastle upon Tyne without one of their long-serving midfielders in the squad. Inter, meanwhile, are set to unveil their new signing ahead of their own Serie A start, a home clash with Monza at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in Milan.

Two clubs, two opening weekends, and one midfielder about to swap Anfield red for Inter’s black and blue.
