Chelsea's Bid for Alex Scott Rejected by Bournemouth

Chelsea’s pursuit of Alex Scott has hit a brick wall.

The London club have seen three sizeable bids for the Bournemouth midfielder rejected, with the south-coast side making it abundantly clear: their 23-year-old star is not for sale.

The timing is crucial. Chelsea are bracing for the imminent departure of Enzo Fernandez and had earmarked Scott as a like-for-like successor in the heart of the pitch. Their wider summer business was wrapped up early, but a new midfielder was always expected to be the final piece. They picked their man. Bournemouth simply won’t budge.

Scott, described by those around the club as “amazing” after another standout season, has been on the radar of several top sides. Talks over a new contract at Bournemouth were paused last month, sparking interest across the league and raising hopes among suitors that a deal might be possible.

Those hopes have been shut down.

Inside Bournemouth, the stance is firm. The club have told players, agents and rival teams that their key performers will stay put for the new campaign, especially after qualifying for the Europa League.

They’ve done their homework. Bournemouth’s hierarchy have studied how Premier League sides cope when European football is added to the schedule and concluded that continuity is vital. The message is simple: this squad goes into Europe together.

That approach also underpins their backing for new manager Marco Rose. Much of Bournemouth’s transfer work was completed early, giving Rose clarity over his group and signalling to would-be buyers that late raids for their stars would be futile.

City interest, Enzo twist

Manchester City have also been tracking Scott, but Bournemouth’s refusal to negotiate has forced the champions to explore other avenues. One of those, intriguingly, is Enzo Fernandez himself.

City are monitoring the Argentine as a possible midfield addition. Chelsea, though, are unlikely to sanction his exit without a replacement lined up. For now, Scott will not be that man.
