Arsenal Pursue Ezri Konsa Amid Aston Villa's £60m Standoff

Arsenal are ramping up their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, with growing confidence inside the club that a deal can still be struck for the England international.

Konsa has emerged as Arsenal’s priority defensive target, the player they want at the heart of their back line. The problem is clear: Aston Villa’s valuation. Villa are holding firm at around £60m, and so far the Premier League champions have refused to go that high.

Talks between the clubs were revived last week, with BBC Sport reporting that negotiations had been reopened after an earlier pause. Even then, Arsenal’s proposals did not reach Villa’s asking price, leaving a gap that neither side has yet bridged.

For a moment, it looked as though Arsenal were ready to walk away. The North London club appeared to switch focus to Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarrell Quansah, exploring an alternative route to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s defence.

But the interest in Konsa has not faded. If anything, it has sharpened. Arsenal are now pushing again, testing Villa’s resolve and the limits of their own budget as they chase a defender they believe fits the profile of a title-winning back four.

The question is simple: who blinks first on the £60m line?
