Anthony Gordon Joins Barcelona: Major Summer Signing Registered

Barcelona have cleared another major piece of summer business, with Anthony Gordon now officially registered for La Liga.

The England winger, signed from Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million plus add-ons, has been enrolled in time to feature in Barcelona’s league opener away to Elche on Sunday night at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero. Gordon follows Rodri and Karim Adeyemi in getting the green light from La Liga, meaning three of Barcelona’s new arrivals are now fully eligible. Only Joao Cancelo is still waiting. The Portuguese international’s signing was confirmed on Thursday, and the clock is ticking as the champions push to have him available for the first game of their title defence.

This time, though, there is no sense of chaos. No last-minute salary cuts, no frantic contract renegotiations. Barcelona are back operating under the 1:1 Fair Play rule, and it shows.
